However, she was placed under conservatorship in 2013 at the age of 27 after a series of bizarre episodes, including the suspected setting on fire of a driveway. To quote her lawyer, “it felt like the appropriate thing to do at the time,” her parents were worried about her safety.

Bynes tweeted that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder the following year and was taking medication and often consulting a psychologist and psychiatrist. She is almost 36 years old, and a judge in Southern California has declared that she is no longer dependent on her mother for support.

According to Esquibia, Bynes’ “years of hard work” and consistent court reporting had now paid off. He claims that her mother gave her permission to end the conservatorship in February, and he did so.

A recent high-profile termination case involving pop diva Britney Spears brought attention to conservatorships, which are typically intended for people with dementia or a cognitive handicap. In contrast to Britney’s conservatorship, “Amanda’s conservatorship is nothing like Britney’s conservatorship”.

“Amanda’s parents worked with her to establish a conservatorship. She had a harmonious relationship with both of her parents. Amanda was, in fact, working with everyone else.”

He claims Bynes let her mother make all of her choices for her. “She saw that it was looking out for her interests and gave her permission for it to continue. Also, it was successful.”

Esquibias claims that Bynes is thrilled to return to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. He explains, “She’s been taking classes in merchandising, and she’s interested in starting her own perfume brand.”
