Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, has accused FIFA president Gianni Infantino of being behind the “failed” European Super League idea.

According to Tebas, Infantino is codenamed “W01” in top-secret Super League files.

Tebas said of Infantino on Tuesday, “I already told him in person that it is him who is behind the Super League.” I have said it before and I’ll say it again: FIFA president Gianni Infantino is the mastermind behind all of this. He’s being aggressive and assertive.

Former UEFA president Gianni Infantino stated his and FIFA’s opposition to the April 18 founding of the breakaway movement by 12 European teams.

In the wake of fan and government pressure, six English teams withdrew 48 hours later. Among them were Champions League finalists Manchester City and Chelsea.

As a result, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, and AC Milan withdrew as well, but Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus have yet to do so.

The nine teams that withdrew have been fined by UEFA and have agreed to donate a total of €15 million to grassroots and youth football across Europe as goodwill.

The governing body of European soccer, UEFA, announced Friday that disciplinary proceedings would be initiated against the three teams.

On Saturday, the three clubs that refused to back down called UEFA’s demands “intolerable.”
