Generally, the username is ‘admin‘ and password is ‘password‘ though it varies from router to router and must be changed. Thus, entering this IP address on a web-browser becomes the first step to connect to the internet.

The best and easiest way is to press the reset button on the router. Now choose a new username and password. Another method is forwarding ports. You can avail this only if your router has a UPnP (Universal Plug n Play) due to which the router will open the port on its own.
